Warehouse Operative

Location: Basildon

Salary: £27,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday (shift-based) | Occasional Saturdays

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Operative to join a well-established and busy operation in Basildon. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid warehouse experience and a valid counterbalance forklift licence who is looking for a stable, full-time role within a professional and safety-focused environment.

The Role

As a Warehouse Operative, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring goods are handled safely, accurately, and efficiently. You will be responsible for supporting inbound and outbound operations while maintaining high standards of safety, organisation, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating a counterbalance forklift to safely load and unload deliveries
• Handling goods with care to ensure stock remains secure and undamaged
• Checking incoming and outgoing freight, including quantities and dimensions
• Reporting any issues
• Maintaining accurate paperwork and records for warehouse movements
• Supporting efficient vehicle turnaround within the yard and loading areas
• Ensuring all outbound goods are correctly signed for on collection
• Completing daily and weekly equipment checks and reporting any defects
• Charging forklifts and securing equipment at the end of each shift
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and hazard-free warehouse environment
• Promoting and enforcing health and safety standards, including correct use of PPE
• Communicating operational issues clearly and professionally to the relevant teams

About You

• At least 3 years’ experience working in a warehouse or similar environment
• Valid Counterbalance FLT licence (3,000kg minimum)
• Full UK driving licence
• A strong awareness of health and safety procedures
• Reliable, organised, and able to work well as part of a team
